Windows Mic Optimization Guide
✅ Step 1: Set Correct Mic Quality (48kHz)
Press Windows Key
Type: Sound Settings
Click Sound Settings
Under Input, click your Microphone
Click Additional device properties
Go to the Advanced tab
Under Default Format, select:
2 channel, 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)
(or 1 channel 16-bit 48000 Hz if that’s the only 48k option)
Click Apply
Click OK
✔ Done.
✅ Step 2: Adjust Mic Volume Properly
Stay in Microphone Properties
Go to the Levels tab
Set microphone level to:
70–85
Click Apply
You should speak normally and the level should not max out.

✅ Step 3: Turn OFF Windows Enhancements
In Microphone Properties
Click the Enhancements tab
(If you don’t see this, skip this step)Check:
✅ Disable all enhancements
Click Apply
✔ Done.
✅ Step 4: Turn Off Exclusive Mode
Go back to the Advanced tab
UNCHECK:
❌ Allow applications to take exclusive control
❌ Give exclusive mode applications priority
Click Apply
Click OK
✔ Done.
✅ Step 5: Confirm Chrome Hardware Acceleration
Open Chrome
In the address bar type:
chrome://settings/system
Make sure:
✅ Use hardware acceleration when available = ON
Restart Chrome if you changed it.
✔ Done.
🎧 Optional (Highly Recommended)
Use a wired USB headset
Avoid Bluetooth
Close Zoom/Teams during calls
Use wired Ethernet if possible
